I need a convenient way to share a single monitor and wireless keyboard and mouse between my personal PC and the company PC I use to work from home. The ConnectPRO UD-12AP mostly fits the bill. I can conveniently switch between the two PCs with the touch of a couple of hotkeys, video quality is indistinguishable from a direct connection, and likewise keyboard and mouse are both as responsive as when directly connected. There are also buttons on the ConnectPRO front panel to switch between PCs. I appreciate two additional USB slots on the front panel. Devices plugged in there are accessible to my PCs as I switch between them. From what I understand from reading descriptions and reviews of competing KVM devices, ConnectPRO seems to have cracked the nut of support for USB HID better than other companies in this space. This means there is no problem connecting wireless keyboards and mice to the designated USB ports on the ConnectPRO. I am happy to say that my experience with a Logitech mouse and Microsoft ergonomic keyboard bear this out.The ConnectPRO UD-12AP unit comes with DVI connectors for video; the kit supplies three cables to convert to HDMI. Together with the USB connectors, this results in a large number of relatively heavy cables snaking around behind the unit and monitor, and connecting to the PCs. Despite that, the unit itself is solid enough to resist being dragged around by the cables; it stays in one place on my desk. The unit is attractive in a utilitarian way, and build quality appears to be very good.I have a 4K monitor and two Windows 10 PCs that support 3840 x 2160 resolution. When I first set up the ConnectPRO, the PCs negotiated 1920 x 1080 resolution. I contacted ConnectPRO tech support via email, and they responded quickly with suggestions including powering down the unit, and then disconnecting and reconnecting power, USB and HDMI.Now the PCs mostly negotiate the correct resolution, but sometimes they don't. I've found that disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI connector for the particular PC forces renegotiation at the correct resolution. It seems there's something problematic in the ConnectPRO implementation that results in occasional miscommunication between the PCs and the monitor. I haven't figured out if there's a pattern--waking up from hibernate, reconnecting the laptop after having used it elsewhere, or something else. There was also a time I had to disconnect and reconnect the USB connection to get the mouse to work. For the record, my PCs and monitor are all recent purchases, running up-to-date drivers, etc.Correcting these connection and resolution glitches is relatively quick and simple, but it's annoying. So, the ConnectPRO is good, but not rock solid, hence four of five stars.Additional note: The ConnectPRO reliably negotiates the correct resolution if after I power up a PC or bring it out of hibernation I wait about 5 to 10 seconds before switching the ConnectPRO to that PC. Switching earlier or later than this results in failure to negotiate the optimum resolution.
