It's a great last story, if that indeed is what it ends up being for Sakaguchi on the home console front. Naturally, the title can be seen as a nod to his franchise, Final Fantasy, and actually I found some influences from the Legend of Zelda, too. There's a bit of a love story woven in, which is the best kind of story. Overall, it is just a story of heroic exploits with some mixed results in the end, but I'm here to say do not underestimate the quality of the immersion, (or engagement, as Denis Dyack has said qualifies as the most important aspect of game development), by means of excellently portrayed, memorable, and original characters. The combat system is unique and smooth-operating, in real time. Also, for a Wii game, the graphics are rich and moderately detailed. The difficulty curve was well-crafted, with a real sense of accomplishment crowning the final boss battle (which will be after about 35 hours of direct, story-driven gameplay). There is at least one pleasant surprise regarding side quests, and many plot details/twists which should not be spoiled. The bonus material that came with the limited edition is all nice. I love art, so the concept art is especially interesting to me. It also will give me something to shoot for with my character's appearances the next time I play through the game.It cost me the same as my limited edition Skyward Sword, so no real drawbacks here, except for the game's slightly noticeable taxing of the hardware.
