I needed more ports, and I found this switch on Amazon at what seemed to be a very good price. There were no reviews as yet for this particular switch, but reviews looked excellent for their other models, so I took a flyer on it, and I'm glad I did. I like that the activity and connection lights are in a panel on the left side, so they're not obscured by the RJ45 cabling as they often are. I also appreciate that this model has an onboard power supply, so it plugs directly into the AC; no annoying wall wart required! As for functionality, what can I say? It works as expected. It passes traffic at its rated speed. It's essentially a dumb switch, except for the addition of a small three position physical switch which is barely touched on in the small manual. The Default position is normal operation, but there is a VLAN position, as well as a position which increases the maximum cabling distance to 250 metres, by reducing the speed of each port to 10 mbps apparently. As for the VLAN feature, I haven't found any definitive explanation of how it operates, and there is no mention of it in the sparse manual. There's also no website that I've been able to find; so it's a bit of a mystery. I suppose that's all I have to complain about. I'd like to have a bit more informative manual, and perhaps a website with documentation and support. But for the price, I can't really complain too much.
