I took a chance on these as they’re not the first pair to be returned. Out of the box – these fit. The bike now sits at the right height, but with 3” of shock travel vs 4 ¼” of my stock XL-125 shocks, I lost some serious shock travel and more at the wheel. As an inexpensive temporary measure, I needed to get my ride height corrected. Tests on my track showed improvements on washboard and overall trackability. Dampening and spring stiffness (don’t confuse with spring rate) are both adjustable. Out of the box both are at minimum settings. The first couple test rides were good. After 30-40 minutes of break-in, I smacked the limits of the mighty 3”’shock travel a few times and started to tighten them up. My old shocks wouldn’t have done this. BUT my track times were improved! So, the gain in trackability was offsetting the loss in jump speed. The choices are bunch of Chinese universals, with no information of what you get -vs- the hard-to-find specialty companies who make it difficult in pricing and availably of something very simple. This is for a modified 100cc dirt bike that now has125 suspension. Everything worked out except the 14 3/8” shocks were too long, and I needed 13 ½” length to make things work better. I searched the world for a shock of this length that at least 4” of travel and a top side shock body.It seems long travel shocks are a thing of the past. I didn’t realize the world 2-shock dirt bike suspension parts were extinct. Earlier, brands like Boge and Koni would offer shock length, spring rate, dampening, the whole bit.At least this is not a dead end. I didn’t spend hundreds or more. These have flexibility in dampening and spring adjustability. I can change the springs if needed and I hope to extend the swingarm length and/or increase the shock angle/position to buy back the travel needed.
