I am used to working with two monitors so being restricted to just the laptop screen is a real drag when I get to the hotel while traveling. This ITRIVIEW monitor is perfect solution to boost mobile productivity. It is very lightweight and has a high build quality. The monitor itself is not physically attached to the cover, but has a magnetic attachment on the top back. The case is a very nice material with 3 positions to angle the monitor, and a magnetic clasp to hold it shut to protect the screen while traveling. It came with a very heavy duty plastic protector over the screen that actually takes a little effort to remove. It is a matte screen with good viewing angles and seems on par with any laptop screen. The default backlight setting of 50 is a bit dim, I boosted it up to 100 and then also set the color temperature to SRGB to max out how bright it is. I found that backlight settings are not saved when you power off the screen so you'll need to adjust each time you use it. It has several built-in presets (Standard, Game, Movie, Photo, Vivid), there is no lag and the picture looks great, even for video. There are two switches, one works like a combination input selector and back button when in the menus, and one works like a volume/brightness control toggle, or a menu navigation key. There are two status LEDs, a red one that indicates power, and a green one that indicates signal. It comes with some very high quality looking cables for HDMI to mini-HDMI, USB-C (one right-angle connector), Mac display port, mini-USB (power), and a 3A USB power brick. The manual shows a number of different power options - in theory if your laptop sends video over USB-C and puts out enough juice on that same port, it will work with just the one cable. I found the USB-C output on a 7th gen Thinkpad was not enough to drive the monitor, but it worked with Macbook Air. When using the micro-USB power cable I found that the included 3A power brick works great, a 2A power brick has just enough juice to work, and a 1A power brick is not enough power. It has speakers which are okay but not loud, similar to a decent smartphone. The only problems I found were with the audio: the headphone jack produces a constant loud noise if you are powering via the micro-USB port. When powered with a single cable via USB-C, the speakers make a faint noise that you can turn off using the mute function. I don't take off any stars for these issues as it doesn't affect use as an extra laptop monitor.
