Divide Network Switch with VLAN It is a good practice to separate the IP cameras. So others will not be able to see your IP camera system after they access your network. You can either use the independent PoE switch or use a web smart PoE switch with a VLAN feature. Assign the dedicated ports to a specific VLAN, All your IP camera systems will stay within that VLAN. The TCP/IP data network is limited to 328ft. You can add the PoE extender to repeat the network. Single PoE extender can supply another 328ft. The optional solution is you can use the SFP slot on the PoE switch to work with fiber optic cable which can supply over 5000ft of data network without data loss. Technically, the PoE system doesn't require grounding as it is the DC48-DC55V lower voltage power system. However, grounding the switch still can help to introduce the surge to the ground. The copper cable may absorb the surge in the environment and send to both ends by damaging your devices accidentally.
