I bought this system about a month ago, and it is still working great. It came with the power and AV hook-ups so I was a little sad that I had bought them separately. It's never bad to have an extra set of cables though.You will need to buy the memory expansion pack, but if you don't plan on playing Majora's Mask, Donkey Kong 64, or Perfect Dark then you will be fine. Just make sure to get one before plugging in any of those games to depressingly find out that you forgot about it and need to get one.
