After unpacking (it was packed very well), it was very easy to set-up. Just plug it in. Since this is just an air-fryer, it's smaller than combo units, but do check your counterspace first. The manual was very informational and easy to read. But honestly, once you get a few things down (the preset icons are kind of small, but you can ID them in the manual), the interface is intuitive. There is only one moving part, the multi-purpose knob, but it's pretty sturdy. Everything else is touch-screen activated.Cooking works well, I've already heated left-overs (including things that don't do well in the microwave) and roasted vegetables. It has a nice "half-way shake" indicator. When it sounds, you can open the unit and lift the basket, shake and replace, then just push it back in to resume (no pressing of buttons to re-start), so it's very simplified. After staring a preset, you can adjust to preferences. And of course it has a manual mode (the fan icon for 'air fry'), which allows you to set time and temp and just press the Start/Stop button (universal icons we're all use from our music players).I'll keep my microwave for things it does faster, but a lot of things just don't do well in a microwave, so this will be good to cook and reheat while retaining taste. PS: tater tots are much better and easier to make in this than in a standard oven
