Description
Product Description The Vornado 184 Whole Room Tower Circulator offers a more effective way to circulate air with V-Flow Circulation. Typical tower fans oscillate due to a limited range of air movement, so you feel the airflow for only seconds at a time. With V-Flow Circulation, a high volume of air is continuously moving throughout the room, creating quiet, comfortable whole room circulation. The Vornado Tower Circulator features uniquely contoured air outlets that create a wide span of constant airflow, without the need for oscillation. A powerful, yet quiet motor produces higher volume of air movement – 500 CFM and pushes air up to 100 feet. The 184 Tower Circulator features a remote control that magnetically cradles at the top of the unit, so the remote is always in reach. . 4 Speed settings allow you to tailor the airflow perfectly for your needs. The 184 includes a 2, 4, or 8 hour timer ensures you run your Tower Circulator in an energy-saving, efficient way. Vornado has eliminated the wobbly base found on oscillating tower fans in favor of a solid and sturdy system that stands the test of time. 41” height. 5 year limited warranty from Vornado. Model is made for 120 Volts only. This Vornado tower fan is useful if you don't have overexpectations. It does increase air circulation in the room. The remote does turn the fan on and off, and adjusts the fan speed settings, although it has no light or other indicator to show the fan speed. You have to stand up and look down at the top of the unit to see the indicator lights, or if you are sitting within a few feet of it, try to judge by the feel of the airflow on your skin. The tower's height is deceptive, as 5 or 6 inches at both top and bottom do not "blow" air out... the vertical spinning fan only sends airflow out from the mid-section of the unit. I did not notice this before ordering the tower, but to be fair, it is accurately portrayed in Vornado's photos and diagrams. The twisted design of the unit means that I feel moving air on my head and shoulders, while anyone seated across the room from me feels it more on their legs. This can be adjusted by repositioning the placement of the unit. Overall, I am happy enough with the fan, as we mostly use it in conjunction with a portable air conditioner to help move the cooled air around the room. It is very quiet on the lower speed, and sometimes seems a bit too loud on the highest. I like that it doesn't have a large footprint, which is great for our small living room. I also feel it is safer to use around small children than a box or oscillating fan. For the price, I am content with the product and glad to have it.I bought a Vornado over 10 years ago and like it so much I bought another recently. The new version is more polished but Mech and Elect the same. Quiet, rugged, easy to store and clean. I use a vacuum to pull away pet hair that can be brought to the intake; I’ve even washed the unit with a hose after it collected dust from storage. Of course I let it dry in the sun.My pets have knocked it over and I’ve left it on days and no problems. The improvements make sense like the remote holder on top. I would like the base to auto move while the fan is working to cover larger areas. The product works as described...Air flow is good and it does have a wider cover range than a other fans.I sit about 10-12 feet away from the unit and get sufficient flow...This unit can cover my whole couch, where as I had to constantly changing the direction of my other fans, depending on what side of the couch you were sitting at. Oscillating fans are useless to me because I want a constant air flow directly on me the whole time. NOT BAD !!! Would have given 5 stars, but it's a little pricier that my Seville or Lasko.Yes, there is a slightly greater range and yes, it feels like a wind tunnel. But, when you are greater than 45°, you feel nothing. That's why I have it one start less. Don't slant straight blades, curve the blade. Make the air port hit the entire blade, not just the middle. It's good if you're family stays on the couchGreat unit given it is delivered appropriately. Makes an awful noise if things are out of balance which happens if the unit is not handled carefully. The up arrow on the box didn’t mean anything to either of the delivery drivers. I kept the least loud unit. I doubt it’ll last the 5 years its warranty covers, though. It's decent. Air flow across the vents sits around 80% so it's not a true curved/top to bottom deal. Couple inches off from the top of the vent and the bottom of the vent have no flow, so it's an interesting curved vent pushing air. Once you get to mid up to max power it's incredibly noisy BUT the airflow at that point is quite strong and can give a moderate sized room (or studio) a decent amount of circulation. All in all, it's done its job. Bought it out of necessity due to a failing ac unit and it's helped me cool down enough to sleep when it's pushing almost 90° inside my place. For straight up circulation or intense airflow, this is the way.The timer works really great as I can set it up for 8 hours and wke up when I start getting hotter in the house. The highest setting is a bit noisy, but other fans with similar power tend to be noisier.Work great after 3 days.Have a slight shutter noise coming from them. Not horrible or loud but noticeable within 3 feet at low speed. Noticeable at 14 feet at high speeds.Vornado truly is worth every dollar over the competition and is certainly worth the investment over the lower end fans available in the market. It’s unique design and cooling technology truly keeps you cool even when the temperature of the house is a whopping 28 degrees. I had this bad boy running and keeping me cool while the AC has been broken and I got to say it kept me cool! I also misplaced my Vornado remote and I contacted them directly asking for a replacement. I was expecting to spend $40-$50 for the replacement remote but Vornados customer service decided to send it to me free of charge. This level of customer service paired with their cooling technology and a five year warranty, what more could you ask for? I’ll tell you what! While other tower fans just kept me cool by directing the air through a narrow vent and forcing itself to oscillate the Vornado tower 184 managed to keep a cool constant airflow throughout the direction it was pointed in due to the way the vent directs air in a somewhat V shaped resulting in cooling a much larger area . In my opinion it’s about some of the best fans money can buy and a worthy investment. Just don’t expect this thing to run silent as while it does have the two lower levels which are relatively quiet and great for sleeping the two higher settings you’ll certainly hear but it’s much better then the competition as it’s a soothing white noise rather then an annoying overwhelming sound you’ll get from the competition. I tested this against a top of the line Honeywell Quietset tower fan and this Vornado was leaps and bounds better as it didn’t require oscillation to cool a larger area. It also is way more powerful and actually cools the room and doesn’t just push hot air around like the Honeywell. Buy this fan you will not regret it!! 10/10- Noise: 4 distinct speed settings, loud at speed 3 and very LOOOUD at 4;- Design: it looks good. No, it's not an oscillating fan and it does not "behave" like an oscillating fan;- Purpose: good air circulator, but there is no magic, the power and air flow cannot be targeted to a specific area of the room. Selfish Lucas cannot have the fan just for himself (said the "altruistic" girlfriend).- "Fit": nice for a small living room, it will reduce the room temperature although it's not strong enough to save you in the summer (if it's above 25C, you might want to find something else to cool you down). Bedroom? If you have a tall bed, 50-75% of the air won't reach you ( reason: tower fan+ the "altruistic design"). NO, the LED lights do not dim after a while and you cannot turn them off;- Reliability: after 5 months, the fan has started to make some odd noises, nothing unbearable, at least not yet. What type of noise? The type of noise that Tedd used to make while exercising in his large, "comfort" exercise wheel. Tedd The Hamster was ahead of any CEO, YouTuber and/or life coach, getting his workout done at 2am everyday.Betting game: it shall be replaced by Summer 2023.Overall: I cannot give more than 3, but less than 3 would would not be fair. It looks nice, but it's ordinaryBeautiful strong tower. And very soft and quick delivery !? Just wanted to cut one star due to the following issue: I certainly couldn't judge the gadget before using it ! Being used to oscillating old fashioned round fans, I thought their panels would also move so that you don't get constant blow to one direction. I wish it would leave me alone for 2 seconds than blow again by moving panels or oscillating in the mean time. Otherwise very good looking and very powerful device especially for heat waves we are currently suffering (and probably will be the new normal for many)This fan so far has outlasted all the other ~100$ fans you can get at walmart and canadian tire. Its been running for 3 years and 11 months, non-stop. It started making a little clicking sound a few months in, but that was because of a superficial piece of plastic that I was able to stuff a piece of cardboard in to resolve.Just wish it could be easily opened for cleaning. Its full of gunk inside.. but its still going strong 4 years in. Will definitely buy it again when mine dies.
